With the beautiful alpine setting of Alta, many opportunities exist for recreation. In the winter: skiing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are all popular. The long days of summer are perfect for hiking, biking, picnicking and sightseeing/wildlife viewing. The Summer Hiking map is a great place to get started. Some of these same great hiking trails are excellent for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in winter.

During the summer, the Town operates a free information booth at the entrance to the Albion Basin Road. The Basin is home to over 300 species of wildflowers.
