GENERAL PLAN OPEN HOUSE
We want your input!
The Alta Planning Commission will be holding an open house, followed by a public hearing, Tuesday, November 15, , at Our Lady of The Snows Community Center. Please come and give your views on the proposed new Vision Statement and Base Area Commercial elements of the General Plan. The informal open house will take place from 5:30 to 6:45. The public hearing will commence at 6:45. Your comments/suggestions will be accepted either during the open house, or formally at the public hearing. Light refreshments will be served.
BACKGROUND
The Town of Alta Planning Commission has been working on updating specific elements of the Town’s General Plan. The last update to the General Plan was completed in 2005.
The Alta Planning Commission is seeking comments on two items; 1) the Vision Statement and 2) the Commercial Element. The General Plan has never incorporated a vision statement, so this will be new element to the plan and an important introduction to the character of the Town. The commercial element has been identified by the Planning Commission as an element in the 2005 General Plan that needs revision.

About the General Plan
The General Plan is a non-regulatory document that provides a roadmap for future land use decision making. The Planning Commission formulates the General Plan with public input. The Planning Commission then recommends the plan to the Town Council for final adoption. A formal public hearing will be held prior to final adoption.
The Planning Commission has identified several critical areas to focus on during the revision process. This includes:
The formulation of a “Town Vision Statement.”
Revision of the “Commercial Development” element
Re-organization of content for better readability
Re-organization of chapters into discrete conditions, assumptions, and policies sections
